Hearing Conservation: Mobile Services |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||
![]() Mobile hearing testing is conducted by Certified Audiometric Technicians (CAOHC) and is supervised by a certified and licensed Occupational Audiologist. Documentation of audiometer biological calibration checks and hearing testing booth background noise levels are provided. These calibrations and noise level checks are required for OSHA compliance. Employee Notification Reports are generated for all employees upon completion of their test. A Certified Occupational Audiologist reviews data and a Review Report is sent for each employee with a hearing-related problem. Employees with significant changes in hearing (Standard Threshold Shifts) are identified. In addition to the signed Employee Notification Reports, the customer will receive an Employee Alpha Listing of Employees Tested, a Statistical Summary and a Possible OSHA Log Recordable Report. During the audiometric test visit, Workplace Group can provide video and/or printed materials to meet the OSHA requirements for an annual hearing conservation training program and fit the employee with proper hearing protection. The Annual Hearing Conservation Educational Program, and Hearing Protection Fitting Program are offered as additional services to provide a turnkey OSHA compliance project. The following is needed in order to complete testing:
Hearing testing is conducted with employees seated in an individual booth to reduce the possibilities of distractions. Hearing testing includes mobile van audiometric testing, computerized record keeping, audiological interpretation and reports. Air conduction threshold tests include 8,000 Hz.
Following hearing testing, Employee Notification Reports are printed in duplicate. Employee signatures are secured to document notification of test results. The employee is provided a copy of the test results.
A hearing conservation training video is presented to the employee while on the test van. In addition, the hearing test procedure is reviewed and the need for hearing protection is stressed. The testing technician also reviews the effects of noise on hearing, the purpose of hearing testing, and the types and availability of hearing protection.
The mobile hearing test unit is provided an inventory of hearing protection used by the plant. Each employee is asked about the comfort and use of their hearing protection. Each employee is asked to insert their hearing protection and instructed in proper insertion and care.
